Worldpanel by Numerator data shows that discounters are attracting more Moroccan shoppers and encouraging more frequent visits, reinforcing their growing importance within the country's FMCG retail landscape. As consumers increasingly turn to these formats, the channel continues to strengthen its influence across modern trade. Penetration of discounters grew from 63% to 71% year-on-year, while purchase frequency increased from 39 to 41 trips over the same period.
This momentum is also reflected in channel performance. Discounters now account for 45% of modern trade volume, gaining share and reinforcing their role as a key driver of growth within the retail sector.

The channel also made the largest positive contribution to modern trade volume growth during the latest period measured, outperforming other modern retail formats and underlining its increasing importance for manufacturers and retailers alike.
Within the discounter landscape, the competitive environment continues to evolve. While established players – BIM and Kazyon – remain influential, newer entrants such as Supeco are steadily expanding their presence, creating a more dynamic marketplace and new opportunities for brands looking to accelerate growth.
